› Ayurveda cleansing and regeneration regimens

In Ayurveda, there are a large number of different regimens

which are all geared towards different objectives. The most well-known Ayurveda regimen is called panchakarma, which literally means “five treatments”. This refers to the different purification treatments which are traditionally used. The panchakarma regimen is recommended equally for prevention and cleansing in healthy people as well as the sick and convalescent.

The effects of panchakarma regimens.

A panchakarma regimen has a cleansing and flushing out effect. Fluid retention in the organism, as well as waste products and toxins resulting from an incomplete metabolization of food are thus eliminated. Ayurvedic cleansing and regeneration regimen PanchaKarmaThese have accumulated during the winter months, for example, and have been stored in the body, leading to an increased loading, e.g. by free radicals. Of course, by releasing these loads, the immune system is also boosted. By cleansing the body using a panchakarma regimen, the gastrointestinal tract, the tissue and the skin cells are also freed of these loads and "shine with renewed radiance", which has a rejuvenating effect on the body and mind.
Therefore, some people who have experienced a panchakarma regimen for the first time enthusiastically declare afterwards that their complexion has improved, their skin feels softer, that wrinkles have been smoothed and their hair shines. As a whole, the person feels invigorated and light, both physically and mentally.

In Ayurveda, the panchakarma regimen

is performed as an elimination or fasting regimen. Of course, this form of treatment is also tailored to the guest’s constitution and suitable therapies and treatment are selected accordingly. Therefore, depending on the objectives, either a reduction or invigorating effect is felt at the end of this treatment.
Basically, both internal and external oil applications are part of the course of treatment in this form of Ayurveda regimen. So, for example, external oil applications, such as oil massage, oil flows and steam baths encourage purification via the skin.

If you observe a balanced diet that is right for your constitution and maintain good digestion following a panchakarma regimen, you can maintain the effects of this Ayurveda treatment for a relatively long time and the benefits can be felt long afterwards.

› The time for a panchakarma regimen

In Ayurveda, the panchakarma regimen

can, in principle, be undertaken at any time of the year. However, it is ideally done in the spring, when kapha is increased and new life springs forth in nature. Waste products are at risk of becoming stored and should be eliminated as quickly as possible. But autumn is also a good time to boost your immune system with a panchakarma regimen and to prevent coughs and sneezes in the cold winter months.

However, panchakarma regimens are definitely not to be confused with wellness therapies. These therapeutic programmes, which take between 7 to 21 days, are sometimes very demanding on the body and mind and require stamina. In return, you will be rewarded with amazing effects following the course of treatment.
